Great… finally another great piece of GNOME!!!

Any way to install it in gutsy gibbon (ubuntu 7.10)?

#3 Jonh Wendell on 12.13.07 at 14:39

@paula: Not for now. Maybe for next Ubuntu…

@alejo: Yes, download the source, extract it and read the INSTALL file.

Needs X11 over SSH support…

Good luck for module inclusion !

Excellent progress.

Looking at how you’re using the MRU stuff I’d say you probably need to install a URI handler for vnc:// which would allow a person to select the connection from the Places menu and have it do the right thing.

Thanks!

@Andrew: Yes, this is planned for next version ;)

Cool. Needs RDP support. :-)

Great app, John, I’ll second the RDP and NX request, and scaling support would be awesome. Muito obrigado!

John I have to tell you how awesome your work has been on TSclient and Vinagre. Picking up maintainer-ship and cleaning up TSclient made it almost perfect with rdeesktop 1.5. How do I convince you to (properly, as compared to my hackjob) integrate SeamlessRDP and ZeroConf discovery in TSclient? And RDP support in Vinagre, that would rock too ;)

All the best!

Hi, folks. Thanks for your comments.

After GNOME 2.22, i’ll spend my efforts in RDP support. So, i don’t plan to enhance tsclient anymore. My idea is: Vinagre is going to be a better tsclient :)

Cheers,
Wendell.

Are you aware of the new nxcl library? Check out a comment from the developer here : http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2007-September/msg00404.html

To partially quote the message : “I was aware of vinagre and tsclient. That’s why I designed my NX client in two pieces”. He goes on to explain his nxcl client library which is part of the new nxlaunch client.

Hi,

I am using UltraVNC with plugin :
http://msrc4plugin.home.comcast.net/~msrc4plugin/msrc4plugin.html

I hope i can use a linux client with that …

Do you think i could use it with Vinagre ?

good work :)

Hi,

Great app. When I try to access a locked windows server i need to hit ctrl-alt-delete in order to log in. Any idea how to do this?
(I created a bug for it –> http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=516202)
Cheers,
Bastiaan

Great looking start!

This app looks to be a great addition for the Network Admin (as well as others), especially with the RDP support. I have been using a program called Gnome-RDP that I don’t think is still being developed. It works but needs improvement. Also, look at a product called Visionapp Remote Desktop at http://www.visionapp.com/111.0.html for some inspiration.

One question:
- Is it possible with VNC to do scalable windows? I think UltraVNC does this in their windows client..can we do it in Linux?

Later,
John

Hi John,
Vinagre looks great! Congrats!
One question? Does it support scaling? Sometimes the screen resolution is smaller than the server so scaling the screen is very useful.

#17 Jonh Wendell on 03.09.08 at 9:45

Next version (after 0.5, probably named 2.23) will support scaling, based on openGL, which is enabled in gtk-vnc compile-time.
