Remote Access and 3D Effects

Just a quick post to say that Vino 2.26.2, which will be released next week will have a workaround for a bug that some proprietary video drivers have with the XDamage extension of X.Org.

If you have a nvidia/ati driver and 3D effects enabled and nobody manages to access your desktop over VNC, it’s enough to change the GConf key /desktop/gnome/remote_access/disable_xdamage to TRUE. You can use the gconf-editor program or edit this key directly from the terminal with the command-line program gconftool.

Most video drivers nowadays work correctly with 3D and XDamage extension. Just do the trick above if Vino is not working on your environment.

Olá John!

Infelizmente acabei passando por esse problema. A solução que eu adotei foi desabilitar os efeitos 3D e resolveu o problema. O problema consistia que ao clickar nos menus, eles não apareciam na janela do VNC, mas era mostrados corretamente no monitor do computador acessado.

Infelizmente, eu ainda não consegui fazer para acessar o GDM através do Vino (para se usar o Vino é preciso de logar antes). Se você ou alguém souber da solução para isto, favor avisar (estou usando o Ubuntu 9.04).

Tentei executar a solução rodando o gconf-editor conforme descrito mas a opção /disable_xdamage não existe. O que fazer?

Existe alguma maneira de fazer o vino funcionar no GDM? Tentei seguir vários howto’s na Internet e nenhum funcionou.

Outro problema: existe alguma forma de fazer o vino aumentar a resolução da tela? Estou usando o VNC Viewer da RealVNC em uma máquina Windows XP e a resolução do VNC é bem pequena…

@Thomas, @PB: Vino 2.26.2 was already released. Check with your distribution if they are going to release that version.

@Anonymous: Primeira pergunta: Atualmente não tem como. Existe até um bug aberto no bugzilla a respeito.

Sobre a resolução, o vino usa a mesma resolução da máquina. Se a máquina for 800×600, você vai ver essa resolução no seu cliente (vncviewer)
