Hi Jonh,
having trouble with controling an Ubuntu 10.4 server via a Win-VNC viewer I read your article “Remote Access and 3D Effects”. Following these steps at least brought me the remote mouse pointer a the local dot-prompt so that I gained control to the remote machine. The only point is, that this ends up as a blind controlling, for the local screen freezes just in that moment, the local PC connects to the server and will never refresh.
So far I didn’t find any comment in the web. I’ll remain to ask you for an idea what can be done?

@Anonymous: Primeira pergunta: Atualmente não tem como. Existe até um bug aberto no bugzilla a respeito.

Sobre a resolução, o vino usa a mesma resolução da máquina. Se a máquina for 800×600, você vai ver essa resolução no seu cliente (vncviewer)

Olá Jonh,

Existe alguma maneira de fazer o vino funcionar no GDM? Tentei seguir vários howto’s na Internet e nenhum funcionou.

Outro problema: existe alguma forma de fazer o vino aumentar a resolução da tela? Estou usando o VNC Viewer da RealVNC em uma máquina Windows XP e a resolução do VNC é bem pequena…

Tentei executar a solução rodando o gconf-editor conforme descrito mas a opção /disable_xdamage não existe. O que fazer?

Olá John!

Infelizmente acabei passando por esse problema. A solução que eu adotei foi desabilitar os efeitos 3D e resolveu o problema. O problema consistia que ao clickar nos menus, eles não apareciam na janela do VNC, mas era mostrados corretamente no monitor do computador acessado.

Infelizmente, eu ainda não consegui fazer para acessar o GDM através do Vino (para se usar o Vino é preciso de logar antes). Se você ou alguém souber da solução para isto, favor avisar (estou usando o Ubuntu 9.04).
