Sounds like a great opportunity to try out dasher. I hear with practice you can really crank out text with it, even with only one hand.

Also, holy crap is that CAPTCHA hard.

Yeah, dasher is definitely fun to use… but I think one-finger typing would be faster

Have you thought about using the GStreamer framework? That would give you even more GNOME integration.
